The story of Silver Bullet Productions began over 20 years ago, after a conversation with New Mexico’s tribal educators seeking solutions to problems critical for the survival of tribal history and culture. How to excite students, stop the epidemic of soaring dropout rates, and preserve their culture, history, and language? Nothing existed in 2004 that offered solutions.
Fortunately, New Mexico was entering an age of filmmaking. Pam Pierce and her husband, Robert Pierce, saw the opportunity for tribal elders, parents, and youth to use Film as a vehicle for change and engage in learning, enlightened thinking, and preservation of a rich culture overlooked by traditional New Mexico curriculum.
The non-profit Silver Bullet Productions (named for the mythical solution for impossible problems) was created, with education and film as the silver bullets.
